Well, Lennon and McCartney influenced each other in a lot of ways, so it's possible that it's a reference, even if it's subconcious. John had a band on a bootleg or something like that called 'Dirty Mac'. So they were always bouncing off one another, even in their solo work.

i would have said the keyboardist was supposed to be george martin? hence why paul as a young beatle appeared to retract from enjoying himself when 'george' seems peeved?
